On Friday our Key Stage 2 choir performed St Ambrose Church alongside 5 other local schools in the Colombus Schools’ Summer Music Festival. They looked and sounded amazing; we are extremely proud of them and their achievements this year.
On Tuesday afternoon the band were lucky enough to go on a trip to Bristol University to play with their orchestra as part of the BBC Ten Pieces Project. We played three pieces along with approximately 100 other children from across Bristol Schools: Mars from The Planets Suite by Holst, The Firebird by Stravinsky and The Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg. The children had a great time, and what a fantastic experience this was for them!
We hosted a Big Picnic yesterday. Our guests were Two Mile Hill and Summerhill Infants – the children swapped plants they had grown, had gardening and cookery lessons, attended a Forest Schools session with Space Cadet Stacey, played some games, rode stationary bikes and enjoyed lunch in the sun.
The Key Stage 2 choir recently took part in an exiciting ‘Festival of the Sea’ event at St Joesph’s school. As you can see, we all dressed up in sea-themed costumes me hearties! We had a great time warming up and singing sea shanties. We then performed some songs to each other before coming together to sing in front of some specially invited guests. Our choir sang beautifully – we were all very proud!
Kerry McCarthy (MP) came in today to read with some Y5 children who have been fortunate enough to go through the Reading Recovery programme with Mrs Rooney.
The monks of Nygima monastery in Bir Tibetan colony, North India have a message for you and all the staff at ABH regarding your recent inspection!
On Tuesday 2nd December our Key Stage 2 choir performed in a Christmas concert alongside hundreds of other primary school children at St George’s, Brandon Hill. The children had a brilliant time, sang their hearts out and were a credit to the school.

Some good news! We are pleased to say that Cavan Scott has become the Patron of Reading for our school.
What’s a Patron of Reading I hear you ask? Well, its an author that works with a school to promote the love of reading with its pupils. That’s not just fiction too – the scheme takes in non-fiction and comics as well.
Cavan had a brilliant meeting with Mrs Hennessy and Mrs Liley of a couple of weeks ago, when they started to draw up plans for the work he will be doing with the school.
