Welfare First Aider and Health SEND Interventions
Air Balloon Hill Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, resilient and caring Welfare First Aider to join our supportive and committed team. The successful candidate will work in our dedicated welfare/medical room supporting children who may feel unwell during the day, administering first aid during break and lunch times, and administering medication in line with school policies in a safe and welcoming environment. The post holder will also be expected to carry out specified medical care procedures following direct specific training by a qualified practitioner.
In addition, the post holder will deliver Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy interventions on an individual or group basis, under the general direction of the Inclusion Manager.
The successful candidate will be well organised, have strong communication skills and will work effectively as part of a team. They will be able to demonstrate initiative and will have a commitment to supporting the school’s caring ethos. We are looking for someone who is able to build positive relationships with pupils and has experience working with children of all abilities. We can offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a large school with experienced, skilled and supportive staff.
A First Aid at Work Certificate (3 day), Level 2 Paediatric First Aid Certificate and Administering Medication training are all essential qualifications for this role. Training for these qualifications will be arranged with an external provider for the successful candidate if these qualifications are not already held.
The successful candidate must be proficient in using IT. The school uses Medical Tracker to record all first aid and medical information. The post holder must be able to maintain confidentiality and follow data protection regulations.
This vacancy is part time and fixed term for one year pending a review of the staffing establishment.
13 hours per week (two days, Thursday and Friday – 8.30am – 3.30pm with a 30-minute lunch break)
Term time only with the requirement to attend on two of the school’s inset days.
Salary to be paid on the Bristol Grade 6 scale £19,171 (pro rata) – £9.94 per hour before deductions.
