Year 6 – Asteroid

Summer Reading

Making Fan Boats

A huge thanks to James and Theo, our visitors who came in to teach us how to make our own working fan boats. This was part of our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) workshop- it was an inspiring day which showed many budding engineers in our class.

May Day

Year took part in the whole school May Day celebrations by performing a country dance. The children had two lessons to learn the steps, the Year 6 teachers were very impressed with the children’s attitude and skill!

Now that we have finished SATs we are starting on our next literacy unit, we are using a text called Journey. We spent our literacy lesson today using inference clues hidden within the pictures to be able to tell the story.

Thank you to our class photographer, Ellie for taking the images.

Chinese Artwork

Take a look at our work and displays. Our Working walls help us learn – the content builds as the term progresses. See how our skills develop over the course of the academic year.

We have just finished our Chinese art work, these are some of the finished work. We looked at the ‘four gentlemen’ which are art techniques that are taught when Chinese artists begin their studies, this included drawing bamboo and a cherry blossom. We also learnt the story of the Willow pattern which is a Chinese story (the plates and design are actually produced in England).

China WOW Day

Year 6 Wow Day, to support our learning of China. The children sampled different Chinese foods and had to eat using chopsticks.
